Computers, writing, new studies, no RV part yet & Wilma's ears.

I am tired of sitting in front of this computer! O.K., enough complaining....I have absolutely no reason to complain...

I was asked to write an article about eating lots of different colored fruits and veggies. I feel that this has been done about 100 ways already, so I have been staring into space for 2 days (slight overstatement.) This afternoon I decided that there is enough information about this already, so instead I gave a brief overview of the various compounds in fruits and veggies and why they are good for us, but then I did two days of sample menus incorporating all the rainbow colors of food into an average day. I like it-makes it a no brainer for people. While I was in Pub-Med looking at studies- always a major black hole for me-I discovered some great new studies about kids and fruit and veggie intake that weren't available when I wrote my thesis. In a nutshell..starting your kids early with lots of veggie choices is a great idea and they are healthier all their lives. I just saved you hours of looking at abstracts....

As of 5:30 today, the R.V. part wasn't in Florida yet, dang it...I wanted to know over the weekend that it was there just waiting for everyone to put my home back together. Soon...I hope.

I braved the New Jersey traffic twice today! The first time was this morning because Wilma had a little bump under her right eye and I didn't want to wonder while I'm in NYC next week and they are at Camp Bow Wow if it hurt her, so I made an appointment and took her in. The vet didn't know what the bump was-as I was handed a bill for $385.00! Really! O.K., there was more to it than just the bump. Wilma with her long ears is prone to fungus infections, so my vet sent me with cleaner and medicine. Turns out she did have fungus in her ears. I was charged $40.00 to look at the Q-tip under the microscope and $3.00 to dispose of said Q-tip. Can you believe it? The bill also had charges of $80.00 for medicine. I told them I had my own from my Vet (called my own Vet to make sure it was the correct type, which it was.) I got the bill down to $210.00 which was still a complete rip-off. I feel taken advantage of and I don't like that. I am happy to pay for services rendered, but this place was horrible. They didn't much like me questioning them either....Wilma is fine-all fixed up.

Later I had to go to the local mall to buy some new pants and a sweater for a TV show in NYC next week. The mall is huge! I couldn't wait to get out of there.

Either tonight or tomorrow I will finish this article and get ready for my week in New York. I'm excited to meet with my friend Bill Telepan on Monday to chat about my book idea in greater detail. I am also excited about eating his food again at his restaurant; he's a wonderful chef. I'll wear my new blue dress Monday night, which I never wore in Niagara Falls, for my friend Nancy Easton's fundraiser for her non-profit, Wellness in the Schools. It's going to be a little odd going to a cocktail party/food sampling alone, but I will stand up straight and try to look comfortable! I am really excited about my kids interviews on Wednesday. Be sure to watch the latest videos that Jimmy should be uploading on the web site soon. The kids were great-do I always say that?

Not very exciting news I realize, but there you have it.

That was a total rip-off. I am glad Wilma is OK though. Good luck!
