I left Pine Ridge Reservation with a lot of mixed feelings. I was sad, upset, feeling I should stay and try to do more, yet knowing I had to move on. What they really, really want is a Boy's and Girl's Club in Kyle. There is one in the town of Pine Ridge, that all kids on the reservation are supposed to use, but it's 60 miles away! I'm going to try to help them with this. Rose and I chatted on the phone after I left and Yvette and I have been corresponding. More to follow...
I only drove about 3 hours that day as I didn't leave until afternoon, so that night I stayed in the town of Deadwood, South Dakota. What a kick....
Aren't they great?

My Badlands and Black Hills heart rocks.
It's big rodeo country
Not Hooters, Hoofers. I cracked up for 2 miles...
Kaden is 13 years old and such a great kid.He is interested and forthright. He and his sister Paige are so lucky they are fed good food, eat at a table and have such involved parents.
Paige is almost 9 years old. Watch her video when it's up. She is already a songwriter. She's very confident. Great kid....
More on this post later today-I need to take Patch and Wilma to the vet. Patch has a very runny eye and they both have loose stools. Frankly, I'm blaming the water where I was in South Dakota. I'll let you know...
A few hours later...
Both doggies have bacterial overgrowth and Patch has an infection in one eye, most likely caused by something poking him in the eye, the doctor said. He said the bacteria overgrowth could be a wide spectrum of things-Giardia, E-Coli, etc. and that the medicine they're both on should clear up whatever is causing their problems. I am not looking forward to putting medicine in Patch's eye....he's not good about being fooled with. Did you know they have Rattlesnake vaccinations? I didn't. Rattlers are everywhere around here I'm told.
Today I spoke with Erin at Smith Publicity and told her I am heading home a bit faster than planned to help with my Mom. I asked her what she thinks is best to do with the last 2 weeks of her time and her strong suggestion was to save it until I get home, get settled and then she'll concentrate all her time in the Bay Area and national media. Good advice.
Last night I dreamed I lived in a really cool barn. The dream was clear as a bell when I woke up. I will hope this happens! I could turn a barn into a very artistic space to write, develop programs, cook, paint and basically let all these wonderful ideas flow.....
Sunday morning I'm off to Idaho, then to Twisp, Washington to stay with my friend Rita, who is quite the kick. Looking forward to seeing her again. Like with CJ, it's been too long....
